Pamela Hines – Janitorial Business Owner
Welcome to my Blog
My name is Pamela Hines owner of “Action Green Clean” in St. Louis, Missouri. I would like to share with you a few things about starting your own janitorial business.
1st Important advice For Success
Have a strong aspiration to serve others. Having a desire to be of service to your customers is going to show them, that you care about them, and their cleaning needs. I believe in giving them the service they deserve and then going some beyond that. For instance, I have some senior citizens that are my residential customers. They are long standing customers that I have provided cleaning service to for many years. Though it may not be feasible to meet all their wishes, I will give them some little extra perks, such as: sitting up their card table and chairs for their upcoming card game, replace a furnace filter, hook up garden hose outside for the season. These are just some of the kinds of things I will do as little extra’s. While it is important to be time conscious these are not time consuming tasks. It makes my customer happy and I go away feeling happy knowing that I did some good deeds to help them.
Keep you Customer’s your #1 priority
Important – Clean right or make it right! Don’t forget to pick up items when dusting. Do Not just dust around things. I can spot dust a mile away (alittle exaggerated here). However, the importance of this cannot be stressed enough. People generally do not like dust, if they did, they probably would not be hiring a cleaning company to rid the dust. Also, another little important gold nugget to remember is – when sweeping and mopping – don’t miss cleaning close to the walls and don’t miss the corners. In other words, do not try to cut corners when cleaning. Do the right thing!
Start-Up Cost for your Janitorial Business
Now this does not have to take alot of startup money. It could if you wish to buy a janitorial franchise. Even though I don’t really advocate that, it can be a really good way to jump in and get started with getting a customer base upfront and all the other frills that come with it. I happen to start out my company on a shoestring. I bought a few inexpensive cleaning chemicals and supplies. I started out with using my vacuum that I already had for my own home. I kept my overhead costs very low when starting out. Then as my business grew I was able to purchase more expensive and better commercial grade equipment.
